Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 21 Preview

I've brought in Pereira for Alderweireld. I think it's possibly the most expensive back five I've ever had. I'm not expecting a clean sheet for Leicester against Newcastle, but at least with Pereira there's the real feeling that attacking returns are possible too.

I've stuck the armband back on Sterling. I'm mildly worried about rotation. I also don't quite fancy the fixture. With Everton having a new manager there's the sense that they've got a bit of bounce and bite. Still though it is City. And they are at home. Hopefully all three of my City players start.

I now have the City, Liverpool and Leicester triple-ups. So hopefully they'll continue to be the teams.

GW20 Review.

Another fairly good week. That's two green arrows in a row now :)

I owe it mostly to De Bruyne. So glad I switched captain from Sterling this week. I was a bit unlucky with the disallowed Pukki goal, though saying that I started him on the bench behind Greenwood (!) so perhaps you could say I'm fortunate to get the 2 points. Also VAR pretty much gifted me the three Liverpool clean sheets. That was another super tight offside call. It's ruining the game, but on the bright side my net VAR for the week was +8. So there are some benefits 😈

Gazzaniga and Alderweireld are continuing to frustrate. Over the last four gameweeks I've averaged just over two points from the pair. Pretty much one point each per week ! Not good. You expect clean sheet potential from Mourinho teams, but perhaps those days are well and truly gone.

I'm very tempted to switch Alderweireld to Pereira this week. That would give me a very expensive back five. I actually still really like the look of my team, and that move would be an obvious and easy upgrade to make. So I'll probably go that way. No point messing about too much now really.

It'll be the first gameweek of 2020, so we'll be very much into the second half of the season.

I need to keep getting these green arrows.

GW19 Review ..With A GW20 Preview Crammed In

Why won't FPL update quicker! *stamps feet*. I have to review this gameweek, AND preview the next gameweek all before 11:30 tomorrow morning.

Just kidding. I don't mind, I've had a good gameweek.

I'm guessing a green arrow. If it isn't one I'll be very disappointed.

Basically TAA mega haul. Nice Sterling captain returns. Plus a very welcome Greenwood start and goal - that was one aggressive move that paid off. My other (bringing in Mahrez) didn't quite do as well. Though if Sterling had converted his penalty instead of just knocking in the rebound I would've had a nice Mahrez assist.

Would've been nice to have Doherty's goal off the bench too, but I really can't complain. (I'd already transferred him out for Van Dijk at that point so it probably serves me right).

Gameweek 20

As for tomorrow and Sunday's games I've shaken things up a bit again. Benching both my Norwich players. I'm hoping Greenwood starts again (a gamble) and hoping that Spurs are fairly ruthless against the bottom of the table side.

I've also switched captain from Sterling to De Bruyne. Mainly because De Bruyne played just 66 minutes today, whereas Sterling played the full 90. So I fear the rotation threat with there being just two days between games. Aguero went off early, a consequence of the Ederson sending off. So he'll surely get a good run out. Mahrez went off at half time too. So he should be in contention for a start.

With Van Dijk back in alongside TAA and Robertson I'm hoping for another Liverpool clean sheet against Wolves ..but can even they stop Adama Traore? (Someone who I'm now considering as a transfer option going forward).

GW18 Review/GW19 Preview

I really don't want to review gameweek 18, but I guess I have to.

Son sending off was the killer blow. I wasn't massively hopefully going into Sunday with just the three Spurs players to lift my week, but I was expecting more than a collective -2. One of them ones where you don't really want to look at your team for a few days.

Saying all that though it could've been much worse, and I ended up just 10 points below the average. Shane Long got an assist, so the Martinelli transfer didn't quite work out. Although both players are now injured and it looks like Long has the worst of it. So it might not be so bad. The Doherty transfer on the other hand helped. He just got the 4 points, but this week that looks like a bounty.

And Cantwell basically saved the day with his 10 points.

So, this gameweek..

Obviously it's Son out, but the question is; who in?

I'm going to go with Mahrez. The City triple up. Their games look nice, and although Mahrez will no doubt miss a lot of minutes the rewards are potentially big. So it's an aggressive move.

Richarlison would perhaps be the sensible option, but it just doesn't really appeal to my instincts. It'll be interesting to see how most Son owners go. (I haven't really been keeping up with the community of late, so I'm literally out on my own with no exterior input).

Surely this gameweek can't be worse than last?  ..please

(Sterling captain)

I'm starting Greenwood too (!) Even if he's just coming off the bench I feel more optimistic than I do with a defender against either Liverpool or City. Again, another aggressive move, but I feel like I need to start making a few now.

Fantasy Premier League: GW18 Preview

Actually getting a preview in this week :)

I've decided I'm going to use both my transfers. Van Dijk --> Doherty and then a cheeky little Long --> Martinelli. I'm not 100% sure he'll start, but the same could be said for Long I guess, plus I just feel like there's much more goal potential with Martinelli. Even though it's arguably a much tougher game.

Martinelli might also be a decent investment. Though I said that about Greenwood and he's now sat on my bench at £4.3m.

For captain I'm going with Son.

I feel like this week could be a difficult one. Leicester playing Man City cancels a few players out. My three Spurs players facing Chelsea isn't ideal. And with Robertson and TAA sat out on my bench I'm really going to need some of my lesser players to step up.

Thank God Pukki is fit.

(I actually quite like the look of that ..though
it's 2:30 in the morning as I type this, and everything
seems like a good idea at that time)

Good luck with your gameweek (:

FPL: GW17 Review

I didn't even get a chance to do a GW17 preview last week. Bloody Christmas 😡

I did end up having quite a nice week though, so I can't complain 🎅

Sterling came good as captain :) De Bruyne stormed it. Pukki grabbed another, and a nice Liverpool clean sheet.

(Sterling tweet, 4 his FPL fam)

It's now a case of deciding what I'm going to do with my transfers this week.

It's the week where Liverpool don't have a game, so with three Liverpool defenders that's a problem for me. I think I'm just going to transfer out Van Dijk though, as with the other two if I take them out I might not be able to bring them back in. What with the minor price differences.

I'm probably going to bring in Wolves' Doherty. Mainly in hope of attacking returns against Norwich.

Speaking of Norwich, Pukki also has an injury. A broken toe apparently (!) Though he supposedly played through the pain with it at the weekend, so perhaps he can continue again. If he's a major doubt I may use my second free transfer to bring someone else in. Maybe Ings. I really want to keep Pukki though. He's in super form.

Hopefully, Christmas aside, I'll be able to post a preview before the Saturday deadline this week, outlining my plans. With Robertson and Alexander-Arnold as non-playing bench players it could be a hard week for me.

GW16 Review

Quite a decent week.

[I actually originally published this article on Sunday night, completely forgetting about Monday's game 😵 Quite typical of this season really. Totally absent minded and on autopilot half the time. Might need to pay a bit more attention over the coming gameweeks smh

So not quite as decent, but still pretty decent I guess.]

Sonaldo :)

Actually got some clean sheets this week!! :DDDD [Look how happy I was. Still a whole game to go *facepalm* ]

From Spurs and Liverpool! [Absolutely over the moon] Makes such a difference. Hopefully it'll continue.

Also it always makes a big difference when you get the captain right, and captaining Son for his wonder goal was especially nice. I'm so happy with my team now that I have two transfers and nothing I want to change. Not often you can say that.

Shane Long has been getting game time for Southampton, so I could straight swap him for Aaron Connolly who has a yellow flag. It's a bit of a dull transfer, but I had just the one point on my bench this week, so that's a minor worry. Connolly is heading into the price drop zone too, so perhaps I should make the transfer sooner rather than later. Though it's always hard to judge price drops. Lots of players tend to spend a great deal of time hovering in the high minus 90's on the fplstatistics.co.uk Price Change Predictor. I still have no idea how it all works exactly.

Also GW18 is the 'no Liverpool fixture' week, so with having three of their players the extra transfer could be essential there. I simply haven't planned, nor even thought about it though. So I better start thinking. [Yes, that's true] Having had a brief look at the fixtures that week there don't seem to be any I'd expect clean sheets in. I think I'll probably end up starting Shane Long lol [Cringe]

GW15 Review / GW16 Preview Mash Up

Not a great showing midweek. Just 39 points.

I'm beginning to wonder if my "strategies" and plans are stopping me from just playing the game naturally. Still I'm going to stick with my plan for this season. Big at the back. Cheap up top.

The two bright sparks this week were that firstly, my transfer paid off. With Maddison getting a very useful goal (and 2 bonus points) for me. And secondly that Pukki got another :) making it returns for him in each of the last three weeks.

As for this week I'm just going to leave things as they are and save a transfer. My one worry is Chilwell who missed midweek with a minor hip injury. He could be back this weekend though.

Also, a top four million finish means qualification for the cup this week. The cup's a bit silly and one bad week means you disappear out of it fairly quickly. However, I quite enjoy it. It adds a bit of fun and flavour. So hopefully I can qualify for it.

(I'll post a screenshot of my team for GW16 tomorrow morning. Son captain I think.)

FPL: Gameweek 15 Preview

So I've brought Maddison in. I was tempted to go with Pulisic, but I prefer the safety of having someone guaranteed to start every game.

I'm benching Alderweireld and playing Cantwell this week. I keep missing his points sadly, so me starting him probably means he won't deliver. The Southampton game looks like a nice fixture though.

I'm really starting to like the look of my team now. So I think it's probably time I started saving a transfer in anticipation of Lloris eventually coming back. I have no idea when that will be, but it's worth bearing in mind if you have Gazzaniga in goal.

Captain returns from Sterling tonight would be a great way to start this gameweek. If he blanks though it could be hard watching the rest of the games unfold.

FPL: GW14 Review

Finally a really good week this season :D

That was a much needed tonic for my season. The Liverpool triple up came good, even without the clean sheet. Son captaincy worked out. Pukki goal another huge bonus.

I can now just straight swap Jorginho for Maddison before the Tuesday deadline. Which will make my team look a lot more attractive. I'll probably wait until tomorrow as I can't imagine there'll be any threat of a price change for either player. With Pukki now getting points I'm actually considering just keeping him going forward. Ideally I'd like to upgrade Alderweireld to Leicester's Pereira, but that would require an extra £1m from somewhere. So maybe a price downgrade to Lundstram would make more sense.
