Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 25 Preview

A quick preview. One transfer - Dubravka in, Gazzaniga out.

I don't quite have an obvious captain this week so I'm sticking with Trent Alexander-Arnold. Maybe I'm pushing my luck a bit hoping this will pay off again, but he seems like the best pick given my options. (I suspect the Spurs vs Man City game will be a tight Mourinho affair.)

I'm actually quite looking forward to this weekend's football. The double gameweek was surprisingly stressful - even though I did quite well in it. It's difficult to just enjoy a game with the triple captain in play. I'm sure we all overemphasise its important. After all, it is just 10 or 15 points extra even if you get it right. Feels like a big deal though.

Also, today I looked back at where I was this time last season. I'm actually a little bit ahead - I was around 250k this time last year (I'm currently 238k). However, the first double gameweek that time was GW25. I triple captained Sterling and he earned me 33 points. I finished the gameweek with 108, and that took me all the way up to 121k by the end of the week. It's quite unlikely I'll be that high up by the end of GW25 this time out. So perhaps I'm actually behind where I was last season in a weird kind of way.

Another green arrow would be very welcome though either way.

FPL: GW24 Review

My big gamble paid off quite nicely this week. I can't gloat too much though as I clearly had a great deal of luck. What with Mane going off injured early in the first Liverpool game.

Gameweek Points: 95
Gameweek Rank: 73,508

Returns in both games from TAA was great. Very happy with that :) - only Salah (and Henderson) did better for Liverpool over the gameweek. My two transfers also returned, with Digne getting an assist and Son getting a goal.

The 12 points from Pereira was nice, and Haller getting an assist was very, very lucky indeed. West Ham looked awful against Leicester. I'd be very fearful of relegation now if I was a West Ham fan.

With 95 points and Mane blanking I obviously got quite a large rank boost as well. Up from 530k to 240k (!)

My form has been great over the last six gameweeks. I just need to keep this up now.

(lots of green)

Going forward I need to change my keeper, what with Lloris coming back early. Then remove Haller - probably for either Ings or Jimenez.

The League Cup semi-finals also fell in my favour too this week. Had Leicester progressed to the final it would have meant that I'd have had 6 players blanking in GW28. As things stand I just have the 3 - De Bruyne, Mahrez and Martinelli.

My plan is now to switch keeper this gameweek, remove Haller GW26. Roll a transfer GW27. Then use my two transfers in GW28 to transfer out Mahrez and Martinelli. I'd ideally like to bring Vardy in for that week. They have Norwich then Villa, but I haven't quite worked out if I'll have the funds.

As for keeper I think I'll probably bring in Dubravka. Sheff Utd's Henderson would've been the ideal choice, but they now blank in GW28. Again though, this has kinda fallen in my favour as Sheff Utd defensive options are quite highly owned. So the GW28 blank will steal a few transfers from my rivals 😈

FPL GW23 Review + GW24 Preview

First up. Very nice GW23.

Gameweek Points: 60

I'll leave the image to speak for itself with that one though, as it's now less than 90 minutes to the deadline of double gameweek 24 ..and I still haven't made my transfers. I should probably mention Gazzaniga's 14 point haul though which really gave me a nice edge on many other players this week.

As for GW24 I'm sticking with my very dangerous plan of going with three Liverpool defenders - triple captain on TAA as well. Then I'm using my two transfers to bring in Son for Sterling and Digne for Chilwell.

(..there we go, moves made,
all set)

I feel like these are both quite aggressive moves. Moves I don't really need to make. Especially the Digne one. I do like the two fixtures though. Son at home to Norwich. Digne at home to Newcastle. So my team is going to be quite different to most other people's this week.

It'll probably be make or break for how my season goes this one. A good week I can start dreaming of a very nice finish. A bad week and I'll be in rescue mode for the remaining fixtures.

Fantasy Premier League: GW23 Preview

A nice easy one this week. I'm making no changes. Rolling that transfer.

I've benched Chilwell to play Cantwell at home to Bournemouth, but apart from that it's pretty much as is. I'm even keeping the armband on Sterling.

So unless there are any late injuries I'm all set to go.

With three Liverpool I'm already pretty much set for next week too, so I'm thinking of bringing in Digne for Chilwell then. Partly to prepare for possible future blanks. I'm a little bit overexposed with both Leicester and Man City (both having a potential blank in GW28 if I'm following things correctly). So I need to start thinking four or five gameweeks ahead.

As for the Liverpool situation re next week's double gameweek it could really damage me. I'm guessing most players will have at least one of Mane or Salah, and will then be adding the triple captain to one too. So if either player goes wild I could lose a lot of ground. Alternatively though, if Liverpool just boss out a couple of 1-0 wins it'll work massively in my favour. So this plan is a very high gamble. I'm also probably going to triple captain Alexander-Arnold too. It seems like the most pragmatic thing to do given my current set up. He's certainly capable of getting a good points haul. Again though, it'll all be about the scoreline in the end. Low scoring/clean sheets good for me. High scoring/Liverpool on fire could be awful.

Should be fun though either way :)

Sky Sports Fantasy Football

As I don't have too much to post this week I may as well mention Sky Fantasy too. I've recently starting playing it again. I set up a team at the start of the season, but I didn't bother keeping up. Partly simply due to the fact that SkyBet kept asking me for I.D. and it seemed like too much of an annoyance, so I lost interest.

Anyway, I finally submitted some I.D. around Christmas, started playing Super 6 again, then, remembering the fantasy team I'd set up, had a little check on it. Glenn Murray up front, Wan-Bissaka captain lol. Surprisingly though I was around the 200,000 mark in the overall ranking, which isn't too bad I guess for a dead team. Mainly thanks to having De Bruyne and Van Dijk in there I think.

I still had all 40 transfers left too (7 of which I've since used). I have no idea how the game works really, or even how many people are actively playing it, but I'm going to continue playing 'til the end of the season. See how much I can climb. Then hopefully have a better idea of how the game works come next season. When I might play more seriously.

I may occasionally mention it on here going forward. For the record I'm currently at 186,915.

FPL: Gameweek 22 Review

Bit of an odd week this one. Some big pluses and some big minuses.

Gameweek Points: 64
Gamweek Rank: 2,062,227
Overall Rank: 716,449

As you can see from the image my captain Sterling didn't play. So I got very lucky with De Bruyne as my vice. Getting me a nice 18 points. Mahrez also did superb getting 17 points. The other plus was the Liverpool clean sheet - getting me three solid six-pointers at the back.

Other than that though it wasn't too impressive. Haller didn't deliver (both Ings and Deeney did, so that choice definitely goes down as a mistake so far). Leicester were beaten, meaning my three Leicester guys got me a net 4 points, and then on top of that Cantwell came in with just a 2. Though 2 points off the bench is never something to complain about really.

I'm now starting to think it may be time to lose one or two of my Leicester players. Chilwell in particular seems especially dependent on clean sheets. I think this week I'll just leave things as is and roll the transfer though.

There's also a potential blank in GW28 now if I'm following things correctly, and Leicester are one of the teams that potentially miss a game. So I need to start bearing that in mind as well. Not forgetting the fact that Lloris is on his way back too, meaning I'll probably be needing a new keeper. So rolling a transfer may be the smart move.

Overall I'm actually starting to do fairly well though. This wasn't a mega week, but it was the fourth green arrow in a row. So I'm making steady progress.

(I'm scared to share this in case I jinx things 😟 )

Just need to keep it up now.

FPL: Gameweek 22 Preview

Well, Pukki is definitely out this week, so it's time to lose him. I've been wondering all week who to bring in. My price limit is £7.1m, which means my options are a little limited. Ings is the obvious choice, but Southampton have Leicester, and with two Leicester defenders in my team I'm not too keen on going down that route just yet.

I've considered Calvert-Lewin and Deeney as well. However, I've decided I'm going to go with West Ham's Haller. Mainly just to get the extra game in GW24. I know both the games that week aren't great - Liverpool and Leicester (!) - but still, an extra game is an extra game, and given my options I may as well take it.

Plus it means I can watch tonight's Friday night kick off with added investment. Sheffield United away is another difficult game to be fair. So three of the four fixtures I'm bringing Haller in for aren't great 😂 The allure of the double is too much to resist though.

If he can deliver tonight I'll be off to a flyer.

FPL: GW21 Review Time

Another good week, in spite of a huge captain fail.

Gameweek Points: 61
Gameweek Rank: 1,133,557
Overall Rank: 779,406

Sterling came off the bench in injury time 😫 meaning I just got the 2 points for my captain. It was doubly frustrating as I had Cantwell sat on my bench with 10 points as well. Never mind though. Thanks to going very big at the back I ended up 13 points above the average. So it's another really good week overall. Three green arrows in a row now.

There's a decent whack of time now until the next gameweek now. Meaning there's no real rush to make any future plans just yet. Pukki has a yellow flag. So that's the obvious concern. I imagine he'll be fine though. His fixtures aren't looking great anyway really. A move to Ings would probably be sensible, but I'd rather do that a week later as Southampton have Leicester.

Overall it's all looking good though.
